Alleged Katrina thief arrested once again
Thursday, September 28, 2006James Michael Reaves from Greenville has been arrested for the second time since the Huricane Katrina tragedy. James, 27, was initially arrested back in January for stealing property along the Gulf Coast of Mississippi-Louisiana. Now, 8 months later, James is back in prison for using the Internet to sell stolen engine blocks.
Arrested on Monday for two counts of receiving stolen property, James is being held at a Butler County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
Kenneth Hadley, Chief Deputy, mentions that Reaves was using an online racing website to sell over $3,000 worth of stolen accessories.
The listing was spotted by by a man who survived Hurricane Katrina and now resides in Texas.
Hadley states,
"The victim came all the way from Texas to look at the engine block"
James Reaves, Amanda Lynne Loftin, 21, James Soloman Reaves, 51, and Cody Wilson Sorrells, 25, who were all hired as sub-contractors by the FEMA back in January are alleged to have stolen $250,000 worth of property in New Orleans and the case is still pending.
