New Orleans Lower 9th Ward flooding again
Friday, September 23, 2005
A CNN photojournalist has reported that flood waters have broken through the already severely damaged Industrial Canal levee, in New Orleans' Lower 9th Ward flooding the downtown district once again.
While Hurricane Rita is still more than 200 miles off the gulf coast, and is not expected to make landfall until saturday morning, the excessive rainfall has caused the levee, which was heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina on August 29th, to breach once again, dumping more than 2 feet of water into the downtown New Orleans streets, with flood levels rising quickly.
